We're preserving authentic Oriki recordings from cultural custodians and elders. Check back soon to listen and learn from these precious cultural treasures.
Meet the esteemed leaders and custodians of Ikale heritage across our towns and communities worldwide.
Okitipupa and Irele LGAs form the core of the Ikale ethnic region, located in the southern coastal rainforest zone of Ondo State, between the inland forest belt and the Atlantic coastal communities. The area is known for farming, palm oil production, cocoa cultivation, and strong traditional governance systems.
Ikale land is rich in traditional festivals and masquerade culture, with ruling monarchs and governance systems that vary from town to town. Across communities such as Okitipupa, Irele, Ode-Irele, Igbotako, and others, traditional life is centered on Oba-led monarchies. Each town is ruled by an Oba (king) supported by chiefs and kingmakers who serve as custodians of culture, land, and festivals.
These sacred institutions preserve the wisdom of our ancestors and guide our communities toward a prosperous future while honoring the traditions that define us.
